The Cousins bring Northern Appalachian Garage Rock to CNY Music Now: Windows.

The Cousins are not related by blood. The Cousins are related by a desire to craft and perform songs that are heartfelt and meaningful, with both depth and simplicity – songs they themselves really enjoy.

The Cousins feature the distinct songwriting styles of Quona Hudson and Clint Bush, who co-front the band in equal partnership. The result is a an exciting mix of original music ranging from alternative country to classic blues inspired rock to modern folk to indie garage-rock. The Cousins have been performing long enough to not harbor any pretensions or illusions. They do not take themselves too seriously as a band. What they do take seriously is their music.

Quona Hudson caught his first big break in the national songwriting scene in 2005 as a runner-up in VH1’s Song of the Year contest. He has since toured clubs and festivals throughout the Northeast. Coming from a long line of musicians, with family roots in the mountains of Appalachia, Quona had a guitar in his hand by the age of 6 and quickly found inspiration in his affection for Bluegrass, Americana, and Celtic music.

Clint Bush has been performing in rock bands since he was 15 years old. In that time, He has had the opportunity to share the stage with many regional and national acts. A prolific listener of music, his influences include a wide variety of artists and styles, from heartland rock like CCR and Tom Petty, to 90s alternative such as PJ Harvey, Soundgarden, & Uncle Tupelo and even 80’s country radio (which his mom forced him to listen to night and day). 

The sound of The Cousins is made complete with Tim Densmore (bass) and Jason “T-bone” Trabucco (drums). Having played together in various bands since their youth, many listeners comment on the intuition that seems to exist between them. Their ability to lock-in with each other creates the ultimate foundation for The Cousins’ powerful sound.
